PENLEIGH ESSENDON AND GRAMMAR SCHOOL

KEILOR EAST, VIC, AUSTRALIA • HOCKEY • POLIGRAS H2OZ COOLplus • JULY 2020

Just a short note of appreciation for the wonderful work your team performed. On our side, there were many strands but you helped keep us on the right track. It was a pleasure to deal with you and your people.  Your work enabled us to create a world-class hockey facility. I was proud to be one of the first to dribble a ball most of the length of Pitch One. One or two of the players arriving for training were stunned at my well worn wooden stick—-some of the younger ones may have never seen such an instrument.  For my part, the surface was truly amazing but each time I tapped the ball I could not help recalling our origins —-in the 1950’s we played at Raleigh Street where the ground was too small as well as being rough and then in early in the 1960s at East Keilor where often there were pools of muddy water or just mud and so we were very hard to beat at home. And we were better at clambering down a gully and jumping over a creek to get to the East Keilor ground.

Our club founder and the father of modern Australian hockey Finlay McNab (who often marked the lines) had faith that one day…..

FRANKSTON HIGH SCHOOL

FRANKSTON, VIC, AUSTRALIA • ATHLETICS • SPURTAN BV • APRIL 2019

I would highly recommend Polytan if you were thinking of installing an athletics track to match the standards of any elite competition track. They met all of our custom requirements to fit a competition standard but modified size track around our oval in consideration of the limitations of space. The students were thrilled that a custom 375 metre track could fit around our existing school oval, which also included an 80-metre sprint section. Polytan had a professional team with very specific skills and experience who completed the earthworks, base construction, and then the final rubber crumb specialist installation. The students love the convenience of not having to travel to external venues for training, and the school results are better than ever with many students representing the school at state and national athletics titles.

The Fearnley Dawes Athletics Track

IAAF Class 2 • SPURTAN • May 2017

Polytan completed a major resurfacing project of the facility in May 2017 which included a custom wheelchair sports training lane. This feature was critical for the ongoing use of the facility as a high performance training venue for wheelchair sports.

  • Home venue for the Australian Wheelchair Sports Head Coach Andrew Dawes.
  • Current training venue for World Championship and Paralympic Medallists Christie Dawes, Kurt Fearley and Rheed McCracken
  • Sought after training venue over the summer months from Northern hemisphere elite wheelchair athletes included Josh George (USA) and in Jan 2018 the Japanese Paralympic Wheelchair development squad.

Polytan’s work has lifted the profile of the facility which in turn has led to further investment including:

  • Federal Government Stronger Communities Grant to supply a wheelchair Sports Admin Office and Photo finish booth.
  • NSW Government Community Building Partnership Grant to replace the existing discus and hammer throw cage with a state of the art IAAF accredited cage from Play Hard Sports.
  • A local Newcastle City Council grant to supply shade structures beside the track
  • Little Athletics NSW Grant to assist with the purchase of new HJ mats
  • A donation by Toro Australia of a Utility Vehicles worth over $15,000
  • Further cash investment by the local business community to assist with further capital and maintenance works

Since the work by Polytan works the use of the facility has increased dramatically. Key user groups of the facility include:

  • Over 10000 school students attending over 25 school carnivals in 2018
  • Weekly training of Athletics Developments squads from
    • Hunter Sports High School
    • Hunter Academy of Sport
    • Newcastle Grammar School
    • Regular (weekly) come and try wheelchair sports sessions conducted by Wheelchair Sports NSW. These are people new to attempting wheelchair sports. 4 racing chairs are now kept at the venue for this purpose.
  • Casual training is now available 21hrs per week and over 600 people have purchased casual training passes.
  • Newcastle City Little Athletics Centre doubled its numbers in its first season since the resurface growing from 100 to over 220 Little Athletes!

The Fearnley Dawes Athletics Track is growing in its reputation and usability. The unique work by Polytan has been a major driver in turning around what was only a short time ago a rundown and tired facility, now it is busy and vibrant centre of community sport in the heart of Newcastle.

The Fearnley Dawes Athletics Track was formally recognised by Newcastle City Council at their October 2017 Council meeting. It recognises 5 time Paralympian Kurt Fearnley, 6 time Paralympian Christie Dawes and Paralympic Wheelchair coach Andrew Dawes OAM.

IPSWICH HOCKEY ASSOCIATION INC.

POLIGRAS H2OZ • 01 OCTOBER 2014

Dear Rob

On behalf of Ipswich Hockey Association, I would like to thank Sports Technology International for the excellence quality of work provided in the recent upgrade of our two fields. The fields were only completed in March this year, but we have already received many positive remarks about out new surfaces. We hosted the first round of the Women’s AHL competition in Ipswich on our new Poligras Olympia field in May this year, and received many complements on the field from the visiting State teams. Our second field, the Poligras H2OZ, has also been well received by our club players and we have conducted a number of intercity competitions on the field during the season.

The efforts of your friendly project and administration personnel, your team of professional contractors and dedicated surfacing installers have provided a first class result for our facility. Your attention to detail and willingness to work with our Association and our project manager to provide the best possible result is also greatly appreciated.

We would have no hesitation in recommending either of our new fields to other hockey associations.

Once again thanks for a great job well done.

Yours in hockey, John Cushing

OYSTER BAY PUBLIC SCHOOL

OYSTER BAY, AUSTRALIA • MULTISPORT • SUPERGRASSE ECO TURF 4G • 01 DECEMBER 2013

The playground project at Oyster Bay Public School was significant.

Following tenders STI produced a quality product which meets the needs of the Oyster Bay school community. They have very successfully transformed a drab, unattractive and unforgiving playground into a surface which caters strongly for the needs of the students and staff. Students want to play on the playground now. To see them actively engaged on a safe and secure playground surface, which caters for many sports, is inspiring.

STI have changed a real negative into a massive positive. They are to be highly commended for their professionalism, willingness to compromise and positive attitude towards the project. I recommend them to you.

NEUTRAL BAY CLUB

NEUTRAL BAY, AUSTRALIA • LAWN BOWLS • SUPERGRASSE PROMASTER • 01 SEPTEMBER 2013

To the staff and management of STI.

The Neutral Bay Club would like to take the time to thank you for the recent work carried out at our club. STI has done an amazing job on our new synthetic bowling green. Replacing the synthetic carpet on a bowling green can seem very daunting and stressful, especially as it’s a bowling club’s most valuable asset.

Starting with our first inquires STI made the task very easy. STI has an abundance of knowledge and always acted with only the club’s best interests first and foremost. The team that installed the green where very experience and quick working, the process ran very smoothly. At the end of the install STI made sure that we were happy with the final product, and where quick to act on any concerns we had. The quality of our new bowling green is exceptional. We would highly recommend STI to any club.

Thanks again STI

POLYTAN STI IN THE NEWS

NEUTRAL BAY CLUB’S NEW GREEN Neutral Bay’s new world-class green.

There have been a lot of changes taking place at Neutral Bay over the last couple of years, with the biggest being the renovation of the Bowling Green in 2013.

With the previous synthetic surface being down for 10 years, it was time for an update. The green resurfacing and upgrade works, including new drainage, was done by STI Sports and we would recommend them to any club thinking of making this change.

Their team were very professional and easy to liaise with from start to finish, the end result being that the club now has a world-class bowling surface on which to play.

The Club has two very strong women’s teams and a men’s section that is rebuilding; all are looking forward to a great pennants season on the new aesthetically pleasing green.

WAVERLEY HOCKEY CLUB

MOUNT WAVERLEY, AUSTRALIA • HOCKEY • POLIGRAS H2OZ • 01 JULY 2012

Dear Rob,

I am writing this letter to commend Sports Technology International Pty Ltd (STI) for the excellent work they have done in resurfacing the Waverley Hockey Ground.

The project management excellence, you’re skilled workers and the interaction with the Waverley Hockey club through the scope development, visits to your factory, contractual negotiation and the continual updates during the laying of the shock pad and the laying of the blue POLIGRAS H2OZ surface contributed to a fantastic outcome for all.

We took the gamble on the blue as it was something new, and it was the right decision.

The highlight of the project was watching the skill of your experienced installers, especially your team who laid the shock pad with so much care and precision.

All of those at Waverley hockey involved in the project were so appreciative of the laying team and the way they kept us informed at all times during the resurfacing and met the agreed time line and having the surface ready well before the 2012 season commenced.

The follow up by the STI team – Paul, Nick and Martin to check on the surface and providing feedback during the season has been greatly appreciated and the most important feedback is from the playing group who have given the finished result high praise.

I have no hesitations in recommending STI to others looking at a new hockey surface based on experience with this project.

President
Waverley Hockey Club

LITHGOW HOCKEY ASSOCIATION

LITHGOW, AUSTRALIA • HOCKEY • POLIGRAS OLYMPIA • 01 AUGUST 2009

On behalf of Lithgow City Council, I would like to thank sports Technology International Pty Ltd for the high standard of professionalism shown in the recent upgrading of Lithgow’s premier hockey field.

Thanks to the marvellous efforts of your fabulous project and administration team, the attentive co-ordination of locally based and experienced contractors, and most importantly, the quality of your experienced surface installers, have provided an international standard of facility for Lithgow’s hockey fraternity.

The ability of your team to meet crucial deadline whilst maintaining a high level of attention to detail was outstanding, with Council and the Lithgow Hockey Association both very pleased with the final result.

Since the completion of the project, Council has noticed a reduction in irrigation requirements for the new Poligras Olympia field compared to the existing synthetic surfaced field. This is a benefit that is extremely welcomed by both Council and the Lithgow Hockey Association.

I would have no hesitation in recommending your company to any prospective clients, and can attest to the exceptional works under taken by both Sports Technology International’s employees and sub contracts involved in this project.

Again, I would like to thank you for delivering to Council and the Lithgow Hockey Association a modern, superior quality turf that will benefit the local, district, regional and state hockey fraternity for many years to come.

Yours sincerely,

Mr Roger Bailey

JAMIE DWYER

PROFESSIONAL HOCKEY PLAYER, AUSTRALIA • 01 JANUARY 2009

I would like to comment on the Poligras hockey range that is supplied and installed by Sports Technology International.

My extensive international playing involvement brings me into contact with numerous types and grades of synthetic hockey turfs around the world. In recent times I have taken a greater interest into the quality of these pitches in terms of play, drainage, appearance and comfort.

The smoothness, ball bounce, speed and evenness of play on Poligras pitches is of the highest standard and urge Clubs to take a closer understanding of the technical advantages of the STI systems.

In addition there is certainly an element of reduced irrigation required for these fields which I expect would be a substantial saving to Clubs.

At the London games I was particularly impressed with the field playability and believe the STI team met the expectations of this huge event.

Knowing the technical approach of the company, I would expect their development will continue and have no hesitation recommending them and their great Poligras surfacing systems.
