Bowral Tennis Club had no hesitation on securing Polytan to quote on the proposed full construction of the two Tennis Australia “Hot Shots” courts sponsored by ANZ given our proven tennis court construction history. Polytan provided a “google earth” image showing the proposed tennis court dimensions, drainage, fencing and lighting.
The most important challenge for this new 342m2 tennis court surface was to create better drainage and resolve the problems caused by a flood-prone adjacent swale. The court also needed a better-performing and more aesthetically pleasing state-of-the-art LED lighting system.
Polytan addressed the drainage issues by situating the new court from north to south and then installing a strip drain to more efficiently channel water to the existing storm water system.
Next came further earthworks and slab preparation, which involved removing turf and topsoil, before spreading the bedding sand, and putting in place a plastic moisture barrier, form work, reinforcement mesh and concrete slab.
We also installed a new black powder-coated chain mesh fencing, pedestrian gates and new winding net posts. We then conducted an acid wash and high-pressure slab clean, before applying the two-tone Laykold Advantage top coat and line-markings in Dark Blue and Kooyong Blue.
A new LED directional lighting system was also installed – which has since been given a big thumbs-up by club players!
“We couldn’t be happier with the level of service provided from the initial sales presentation through to delivery of the project. We were well informed throughout the entire project and nothing was a problem when changes were required to be made. I would recommend Polytan to anyone thinking of building a tennis court.” Amanda Denning – Bowral Tennis Club
