Project Overview:
As one of the Northern Beaches premier sporting facilities, Cromer Park Field #1 hosts the Many Warringah State League football teams.
As an aged synthetic field ready for replacement, Northern Beaches Council selected Polytan in a competitive tender process as pioneers of the industry to deliver on its promise to recycle the field. The option to upgrade the field to latest industry standards incorporating an Elastic Layer shockpad and organic infill has realised the vision of Council and paved the way for the future of synthetic fields in Sydney.
Polytan completed all project works in-house from the rip-up of the existing field and re[1]trimming of the sub-base through to the new synthetic surfacing. Our LigaTurf HB system was chosen and as the workhorse of the Australian synthetic field market over the past 10 years it has more fields FIFA certified than any other system!
All yarn extruded and synthetic surface materials for the field were manufactured in-house at our APT Manufacturing Facility in Melbourne. Cork was chosen as the organic performance infill, with the Elastic Layer shockpad a natural pairing, due to its quick draining capability in high downpours and flood events allowing more football matches to be played. The Elastic Layer helps to maintain consistency across the field, improving performance and utilises Australian waste products.
The Results:
The quality of finish and performance of the Cromer Park #1 Field highlights the ambition, innovation and commitment of Northern Beaches Council and Polytan. The project not only delivered a high- quality sports fields but also provided a much needed upgrade to an aged sports facility allowing athletes to compete at their best.
