Project Overview:

In 2019, Polytan Asia Pacific was contracted by Landscape Solutions to undertake the design and construction of the A-League’s Western Sydney Wanderers synthetic football field #7. The Blacktown City Council and Western Sydney Wanderers had a vision of creating a youth academy to develop and nurture the next wave of Australian superstars, but that also benefited the men’s and women’s teams.

The project included:

• The supply and installation of the Australian made LigaTurf RS+260 COOLplus system to meet the strict FIFA Certification guidelines.
• The design and construction of a major grandstand to seat 500 spectators
• The installation of additional synthetic grass areas for activations and community use.

The Results:

This premium facility is home to national and state level football events such as A-League, W-League, National Premier League and Academy teams, as well as many community programs and events. Construction commenced in November 2019 with practical completion in June 2020.

About LigaTurf

LigaTurf is widely used in club environments where training conditions need to remain consistent across all levels, from academy squads through to senior teams. It removes the day-to-day variation often seen in natural grass, allowing players to train on a predictable surface year-round.

The RS+260 COOLplus system installed for the Western Sydney Wanderers supports this structure. Its monofilament fibre construction provides stable footing and controlled ball movement, while the increased pile height improves durability under frequent use. COOLplus technology helps manage surface temperature, reducing heat build-up during warmer conditions.

The surface remains consistent across high-use areas, supporting both structured training sessions and match preparation.

Why LigaTurf RS+260 COOLplus Was the Right Choice for Western Sydney Wanderers

Clubs operate with multiple squads and overlapping schedules, often using the same field across consecutive sessions. Maintaining consistent conditions is essential for both performance and player development.

LigaTurf RS+260 COOLplus supports this by delivering reliable playability throughout the day. Players train and prepare on a pitch that performs the same way, regardless of how heavily it has been used.

For the Western Sydney Wanderers, this creates a unified training environment across all levels of the club.
