Tamworth Athletics Centre

Tamworth Council had a vision to expand their outstanding sports precinct with a new velodrome and 400m synthetic athletics track. Polytan was engaged as a sub-contractor by David Payne Construction and worked closely with their team to deliver the IAAF Class 2 Facility.

The project included:

• Regular meetings with the civil contractor to ensure there was a clear understanding of any tolerances relating to the asphalt placement to ensure conformance with the strict guidelines.
• Installation of the internal Hauraton drainage system and supply and install of in-ground equipment for jumps and throw facilities to ensure IAAF Class 2 compliance.
• 8 lane track installation with 10 lane main straight using Rekortan M (formerly Spurtan BV), complete with line-markings to meet World Athletics, Little Athletics and Masters compliance.
