Project Overview:
The Casey Fields Regional Athletics Track, a cornerstone of the Casey Fields multi-sports complex, underwent a transformative resurfacing project pioneered by Polytan. The aging track which had served the community for close to 13 years required a comprehensive overhaul to ensure its continued usability and safety standards. With our intimate knowledge of the track and the Rekortan M sandwich system, Polytan were able to rejuvenate the existing surface instead of costly full track replacement.
The Results:
The project scope involved tasks such as pressure washing and grinding to prepare for the new topcoat application. A vibrant and new Rekortan M athletics track surface in Rainbow Blue and Charcoal was installed to enhance both competition and non-competition zones. The full depth replacement of minor track areas addressed delamination while the addition of 57 Polytan SMART magnets allows athletes to record and receive results on their athletic performance.
Additionally, new curved aluminium curbing and sandpit covers were supplied and installed to boost safety and aesthetics. In January 2024 the project faced many obstacles typical of Victoria’s climate including wind, heavy rain, and extreme heat. Despite these hurdles the dedicated team at Polytan continued working diligently to deliver exceptional results.
The once red faded track has been completely revitalised into a dynamic hub for athletics training and competition. Its striking Rekortan M surface not only enhances visual appeal of the facility but provides athletes with an optimal platform to achieve their best results. With improved safety features and enhanced functionality, the Casey Fields Athletics Track is now prepared to continue serving as a premier venue for sporting excellence.
