Project Overview:
Bridgestone Reserve Athletics Centre is only the second athletics facility in South Australia. The City of Salisbury awarded the contract to Polytan for the design and construction of this premier World Athletics Class 2 certified facility.
Polytan also delighted at the opportunity to work with Bridgestone Tyres by incorporating over 50 tonnes of recycled tyres into the track surface. The project included:
• The construction and installation of an 8-lane oval track using Rekortan M (formerly Spurtan BV) in Hertha Blue, 10 sprint lanes, and jump and throw facilities, all marked to suit World Athletics, Little Athletics and Masters compliant events.
• The installation of over 90 SmartTracks sensors to provide accurate timing infrastructure for athletes of all levels.
The Results:
The project was not without challenges though as the design needed to integrate elements including pavement, drainage, and electrical with existing community facilities.
