Project Overview:
As one of the fastest growing municipalities in Australia at the time, Melton City Council faced the challenge of improving the infrastructure and facilities for their emerging communities. In 2015 Polytan was sub-contracted to help grow the offering of sports facilities by installing new athletics track and hockey field.
The project included:
– The installation only of Poligras H2OZ COOLplus turf system for the hockey field. It was chosen based on its ability to cater with the high usage and temperatures experienced over summer.
– The installation of the athletics track surface using Rekortan M (formerly Spurtan BV) which is a great all-round system that offers a combination of performance and durability to meets the needs of all track users.
The track was fully equipped to cater for a wide range of track and field disciplines including javelin, pole vault, hammer throw, discus, hurdles, steeplechase, high jump, long jump and triple jump.
The Results:
With World Athletics Class 2 certification, all records are recognised and the facility can host state events. By providing a sporting precinct for the growing community to enjoy, Polytan was able to support Council in its long term strategy to increase physical activity, participation and health awareness.
