Project Overview:
Polytan was awarded the contract to resurface and upgrade the synthetic athletics track facility at Arafura Stadium in Marrara, Darwin, NT. Manufactured in our ISO 9001 Facility in Dandenong South, VIC our Australian Made Rekortan M sandwich synthetic track system was chosen for the athletics track surface at the facility. Also installed within the track surface is our exclusive SMART diagnostics technology measuring athletes real time results for runs, tapping step distance, agility, and jumps.
The athletics track development contract included the supply, delivery, installation, and commissioning of the replacement athletics track. The scope of works included the removal and disposal of the existing synthetic athletic track surface, profiling existing asphalt, supply and install of asphalt, and track line marking to meet World Athletics Class 2 events and Little Athletics certification.
To deliver on Polytan and the Northern Territory’s objectives of employing people who identify as an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander (along with people from any background, demographic, culture, and country) for the project Polytan sourced people from these communities and employed them to work on the project. One of these employees became a long-term senior installation technician for Polytan.

As the only synthetic athletic track in the Northern Territory Polytan are proud to deliver an upgraded facility that has returned to its former glory and can now host national, and international championships.
